Sound
Dan Greenawalt - Forza is a sim, and as such, we want to make absolutely sure every aspect reflects reality. So, we aren’t skimping on the sound. When you’re racing in Forza, you’ll really hear your 5.1 audio system come to life, as each tire is tied to a speaker, giving you instant feedback as to who’s slipping and who’s gripping the pavement. Our sound engine is going to let you know when you’ve managed to bite into a turn, or when you’re about to lose it. And of course, you’ll hear those other drivers coming up on your tail.

Gamespot (Link) - The audio in the game is coming together well and should be a fine complement to the impressive visuals. At the heart of the game's audio are the realistic car sounds that have been meticulously re-created thanks to extensive recordings of their real-life counterparts. Much like the visuals in the game, Forza's audio will do more than just sound good. Those with keen ears will be able to get a sense of their cars' handling based on the various audio cues provided by the realistic game sounds. Players with a home theater setup will be especially pleased by Forza's audio, thanks to Dolby 5.1 support that ably throws you right into the middle of the action.

IGN (Link) - "The sound right now is mixed. Several times I heard cars that sounded like they were right behind me, but weren't. Also, the engine sounds seemed very compressed; unlike they would if they were in an outdoor environment. On the other hand I heard a lot of sounds. When your tires hit gravel, it sounds different than when they hit dirt or grass. Each skid sounds different too. The engine on my little Mini Cooper-S offered gear changing sounds, the hum of an engine, and some other things I'm not sure the origin of. But they definitely came from the engine! When all is said and done, I think this game should and hopefully WILL deliver great sound effects across the board."

Music
IGN (Link) - "The music options are basic. In the menus and on the track, you'll hear familiar classic rock tunes with no license, no singing, and no name bands. So you might hear a Freebird lick or a Sweet Home Alabama lick, but you won't hear that song. In the race itself you can alter the volume of the music, engine sound, the tire sound, and the overall atmosphere with the flick of a level. "

Gamespot (Link) - "As far as music goes, the game will feature a mix of tracks to accompany the action. Finicky players will also have the option of importing their custom soundtracks into the game, which is always nice to see."

Greenawalt (Link) - "We had the option to just license a bunch of random songs off today’s charts, but we wanted to do something more innovative that would really fit with the power and precisions themes of the game.  As a result we decided to go with 100% original music with some very recognizable themes.  All of the music in Forza was composed and mixed by Junkie XL.  Junkie XL took very famous classic riffs like Ironman and La Grange and remixed them to fit the pace of Forza Motorsport."

The new forzamotorsport.net provides some early details on the music that will be included with the game when it is released. At this point the site contains the following tracks:
